Not all insects, mites and microorganisms in the sweetpotato ecosystem cause damage and problems. A number of them help in keeping the pest population from reaching a level that would cause significant damage to the sweetpotato crop. These beneficial organisms are classified into three groups: predators, parasitoids and pathogens.
