Zinc toxicity

Severe wilting and yellowing due to root damage (J. O'Sullivan).  

Diagnostic summary

• What you see on plants

- poor root development and establishment of cuttings.

- young plants may wilt easily due to poor root system.

- some cultivars develop red pigment particularly on veins of older leaves.

- interveinal or general yellowing on young leaves due to induced iron deficiency.

• May occur in acid soil and when fertilisers or pesticides containing zinc have been applied repeatedly.
