Annual or short lived perennial forb to 50cm tall. Leaves flat, 2-5cm long, 10-30mm across, scaly to scurfy or scurfy and hairy, margins deeply toothed, tips pointed. Flowers small (less than 3mm across), male and female flowers on the same plant. Flowers solitary or in mixed clusters of male and female flowers, at the bases of the leaves and forming short interrupted spikes at the tops of the stems.

Recorded from near Broken Hill in 1931, and from SW of Pooncarrie in 1962. A number of collections in SA, the latest recorded in 2012. Presumed extinct NSW. Protected NSW.
