Perennial grass to 1m tall. Leaves at the base of the plant and alternating up the stems. Leaves with a hairy or hairless sheath at the base. Ligule a membrane without a fringe of hairs. Leaves 20-40cm long, 2-4mm wide, hairy, with the edges rolled inwards, margins rough. Spikelets 16-20mm long, excluding the awn. Mature seed groups spreading. Seeds with 1 long awn. Vulnerable Australia. Vulnerable NSW. Protected NSW.
