Notes

Introduced annual grass 30cm to 1.5m tall.  Leaves with a hairy sheath at the base. Ligule a membrane without a fringe of hairs. Leaves flat, 4-25cm long, 2-10mm wide, hairy, rough. Spikelets initially purplish, later yellow-green to straw-coloured, 20-60mm long excluding the awnsInflorescence spreading or cylindrical. Seeds with one long awn, in groups of 5-8.
