Tree or shrub to 8m tall.  Leaves aromatic when crushed, in whorls, 0.2-0.4cm long, scale-like, hairless.  Male and female cones on the same plant.

Hybrids between Callitris glaucophylla and Callitris verrucosa have been reported from the area covered by this key.

Differs from Callitris glaucophylla in that the cone scales are thick, warty, and united, forming a thick cone-base; and from Callitris gracilis in that it is a shrub or small tree to 8m tall, and the cones are densely warty.
