Annual forb to 50cm tall. Basal leaves flat, 2-4.5cm long, soon withering. Stem leaves alternating up the stems, flat, 1.5-5cm long, 2-10mm wide, sparsely hairy, tips toothed or lobed. Flower heads with 12-20 white to mauve 'petals' and yellow centres, many flowers in open groups at the tops of the stems. Burr hairy, with 12-18 spines.
