Notes

Shrub to 2.5m tall.  Spine tipped branches and branchlets.  Leaves thick, alternating along the stem or in clusters.  Leaves 0.5-5cm long, usually to 5mm wide, flat, sparsely mealy, with entire edges and blunt tips.  Male and female flowers on different plants or on the same plant.  Flowers tiny (less than 3mm across), unisexual or bisexual, in spine-tipped panicles or short spikes at the ends of the branches.
