Notes

Annual or perennial grass 10-50cm tall.  Leaves with a hairless sheath at the base.  Ligule a membrane with a fringe of hairs.  Leaves 3-17cm long, 1-5mm wide, flat or folded lengthwise, hairless, hairy, or rough.  Spikelets green or white, 2-5mm long, excluding the awn.  Seeds with one long awn, often in two’s or three’s. Mature seed groups cylindrical, digitate.
