Annual forb, prostrate or 3-30cm tall.  Leaves aromatic when crushed, alternating along the stems.  Leaves 1-6cm long, 4-15mm wide, flat, hairy to almost hairless, edges toothed.  Flowers yellowish green to brown, with 0 petals.  Flower heads broad hemispherical, borne singly at the bases of the leaves or along the stems.
