Annual sedge to 20cm tall. Leaves mostly basal, with a sheath at the base, threadlike, shorter than the stems, less than 1mm wide, hairy, rough. Flower stems threadlike. Spikelets 3-7mm long, 1-1.5mm wide, oval, straw-coloured to greenish brown or pale red-brown, with 0 petals, in open groups subtended by 1-6 leaf-like bracts at the tops of the stems. Grows in damp places. Rare SA. Poorly known Vic.
