Notes

Shrub to 60cm tall.  Leaves in whorls, with membranous stipules at the base, which encircle the stem.  Leaves 0.2-0.8cm long, 0.8-1.5mm wide, linear, hairy, exuding salt, edges tightly rolled downwards, midrib prominent below.  Flowers pink, with 5 petals, solitary or in open groups of 2-16 flowers, at the ends of the branches, each flower subtended by a whorl of 4 leaf-like bracts.  Rare Vic.

Differentiation between the species of Frankenia is based on details of the ovaries, beyond the scope of this key.
