Introduced shrub to about 1.5m tall. Stems, flower bases, and fruit spiny. Succulent stems (segments). Leafless. Flowers yellow fading to orange, with many petals, borne singly on the edges of the stem segments. Ripe fruit red. Opuntia sp. sensu I.Telford (1984) in NSW. A weed of national significance. Noxious weed in all of NSW. Declared plant in SA.
