Introduced perennial grass to 1.6m tall or sprawling. Leaves with a hairless or hairy sheath at the base. Ligule a membrane with or without a fringe of hairs. Leaves 3-30cm long, 2-15mm wide, flat or the edges rolled in when drying, hairless to hairy. Spikelets green or tinged purple, 2-4mm long. Seeds with 0 bristles. Mature seed groups cylindrical to spreading.
