Introduced annual grass, sprawling or to 12cm tall. Leaves with a hairless sheath at the base. Ligule a membrane without a fringe of hairs. Leaves 0.4-30cm long, 0.4-2mm wide, rolled or flat, hairless on the lower surface, rough on the upper surface and the edges, with a fine point. Spikelets 4-9mm long. Flowerhead slender and cylindrical, forming more than half the plant, green or purplish, spikelets embedded in the hollows of the flower stem. Seeds with 0 bristles.
