Forb with woody stems to 35cm tall. Leaves alternating up the stems, mostly 1-5cm long, 1-5mm wide, linear, woolly, tips broadly pointed. Flowers yellow, with 0 petals, in globular or slightly oval heads at the tops of the stems. Protected NSW.

Differs from Craspedia haplorrhiza in that the hairs on the seeds are yellow.

Differs from Pycnosorus chrysanthus and Pycnosorus pleiocephalus in that the main bract of the partial head has a brown glandular central region, woolly with fine hairs, and a yellow dry membranous tip.

Differs from Pycnosorus pleiocephalus in that the leaves are densely covered in fine woolly hairs.
