Annual forb to 25cm tall.  Leaves alternating up the stems, lower leaves sometimes opposite each other on the stem, often with small basal lobes, 1-4cm long, 1-5mm wide, linear to flat, hairy, margins curved down and sometimes wavy.  Flowers white and brown, with more than 10 ‘petals’.  Flower heads cylindrical to top-shaped,  borne in compact groups at the ends of the stems.
