Introduced perennial grass to 1.2m tall. Leaves with a hairless sheath at the base, sometimes rough towards the top. Ligule a fringe of hairs. Leaves flat, 10-30cm long, 2-8mm wide, rough, often glaucous, lower surface hairless. Spikelets 2-3mm long. Seeds with 0 awns, but subtended by 4-12 bristles 2-12mm long. Mature seed groups cylindrical.
