Introduced annual grass to 60cm tall or sprawling. Leaves with a hairless sheath at the base. Ligule a membrane with or without a fringe of hairs. Leaves 1-11cm long, to 3mm wide, flat or the edges rolled in, lower surface hairless, upper surface hairy. Spikelets 1-22mm long excluding the awns. Mature seed groups oval to cylindrical. Seeds with 1 awn, in groups of 2-12.
