Forewing with characteristic infuscate pattern; body bright metallic blue to blue-green; antenna compressed, scape widest at apex, and funicular segments wider than long; dorsum of mesosoma with very strong reticulate sculpture;

Distribution

This species is mainly known from Australia, although we have seen specimens from Southeast Asia (Indonesia) (Edwards & La Salle, 2004).


Hosts

This species is known only from a few species of Agromyzidae: Chromatomyia syngenesiae, Liriomyza chenopodii, Liriomyza brassicae (Edwards & La Salle, 2004).

Biology

Like all entedonines, C. mirabilis is an endoparasitoid, most probably of larvae.


Comments

Although C. mirabilis can be relatively common in Victoria, it is not common in Southeast Asia, and will probably not supply substantive levels of leafminer control in that region.
