Pronotum completely or almost completely covers the head.

The pronotum is the upper plate of the first segment of the thorax (the prothorax). The head is covered by the pronotum and almost impossible to see from above. Insects with a pronotum covering the head include cockroaches (Blattodea) and bristletails (Archaeognatha).
