Bambusa moreheadiana F.M.Bailey

Derivation
Bambusa Schreb., (nom. cons.), Gen. Pl. 8th edn 236, (1789); latinised from the Malay vernacular bambu.

moreheadiana- in honour of Boyd Dunlod Morehead (1843–1905). English-born Australian politician.

Habit
Perennial. Culms clambering, 30 mm diam. Mid-culm internodes pilose. Leaf-sheath auricles absent. Ligule an eciliate membrane, entire. Leaf-blades lanceolate, 30 cm long, 30 mm wide. Leaf-blade surface grooved along midline, glabrous. Leaf-blade margins smooth.

Inflorescence
Inflorescence compound, a panicle.

Spikelets
Fertile spikelets many flowered, comprising 3–4(–12) fertile florets, 5–6(–12) mm long.

Glumes
Lower glume 2.5–3.5 mm long, 9-nerved. Upper glume 3–4.5 mm long, 9–11-nerved.

Florets
Fertile lemma ovate, 3–5.5 mm long. Lemma lateral nerves with cross-nerves. Lemma surface smooth. Lemma apex obtuse. Palea oblong or oblanceolate, 2.5–5 mm long, 7-nerved. Palea apex obtuse.
