Distribution

AUSTRALASIAN/OCEANIAN � (Australia � Australian Capital Territory, New South Wales, Northern Territory, Queensland, Western Australia), ORIENTAL, PALAEARCTIC.

Biology

Sarcophaga taenionota is commonly found on, and known to breed in human and cow faeces along with dead animals (Park, 1977; Ferrar, 1979; P�rez-Moreno et al., 2006). It was also collected at decayed carrion-baits by KAM.

Taxonomy

The eggs and larval instars were described by Ferrar (1979; referred to as Parasarcophaga knabi). DNA barcode sequences of S. taenionota have been deposited in both GenBank and BOLD.
