Distribution

Capital Territory, New South Wales, Northern Territory,
Queensland, South Australia, Victoria, Western Australia).
Biology
Sarcophaga aurifrons has been bred from bad meat in Brisbane
(Johnston and Tiegs, 1921). This species has also been
collected at decayed-carrion baits by KAM.
Taxonomy
This species
belongs to the monotypic subgenus Taylorimyia.
The larval instars were described by Cantrell (1981;
referred to as Taylorimyia iota).
DNA barcode sequences of S. aurifrons have
been deposited in both GenBank and BOLD.
