Species of the B. acheronensis group have small (1.9-2.8 mm in length), conical shells with a thickened inner lip. The penis is simple and both named taxa are found in south-western Tasmania.
This species has a conical shell and, along with B. franklinensis, can be separated from other Beddomeia species in the rather elongate bursa copulatrix with the bursa duct entering the posterior corner.

Type locality: Small tributary of Acheron River, 100m from helicopter site below hill, Tasmania (42°26'36"S 145°51'E).
In leaf litter and gravel and in fern mats and weed attached to rock shelf in stream and small trickle.Egg capsules unknown but assumed to resemble those of other Beddomeia species (dome-shaped, with broad attachment base, covered with minute, mainly white sand grains and other fragments; contain a single egg). Development is direct.
Acheron River and small tributaries, south-western Tasmania.
All species of Beddomeia are geographically isolated and have restricted ranges.
