Most similar to E. (B.) chillagoensis but differs in the shell of E. (B.) routhensis being more pupiform, with that of E. (B.) chillagoensis being broader and with the inner lip of the aperture more distinctly separated from the parietal wall. Anatomically the two species are also similar, with only some minor differences.

Lives on on mud and vegetation in and around spring seepages.
ESE of Georgetown, Routh Station, in small muddy springs, near the western boundary of the Einasleigh Uplands. These springs are not feed from the Great Artesian Basin.
