Diagnostic features

Differs from other members of the genus in shell being depressed pupiform with thicker inner lip of aperture; mantle cavity with rudimentary ctenidium; anus well back from pallial edge; and stomach lacks caecum.

Type locality: Tarra National Park, Victoria.

Biology and ecology

In small streams and seeps crawling on litter and sediment. Can be locally abundant. Assumed to feed by scraping bacteria and microalgae. Lay solitary capsules containing a single egg. Egg capsules lenticular with a broad base, covered with sand grains. Direct development.

Distribution

Eastern Victoria – Great Dividing Range, Dandenong Ranges and Strzelecki Ranges. (eg. Bulga Nat. Park, Tarra Valley Nat. Park etc.).

Notes

Sympatric with V. elongata  in one locality.
