Diagnostic features

Differs from other members of the genus in shell being broadly ovate conic; pallial cavity with ctenidium overlapping anterior end of pericardium; male genital system with vas deferens straight and opens at anterior quarter of prostate gland; female genital system with bursa copulatrix not extending to posterior pallial wall and opening small and slightly anterior to capsule gland.

Type locality: Spring, at head of tributary of Turtons Creek on Boolarra Foster Road, Victoria (38°33'48"S 146°14'30"E).

Biology and ecology

Found in small stream fed trickles and seepages. Crawling on litter and sediment. Can be locally abundant. Assumed to feed by scraping bacteria and microalgae. Lay solitary capsules containing a single egg. Egg capsules lenticular with a broad base, covered with sand grains. Direct development.

Distribution

Eastern Victoria – Great Dividing Range, Dandenong Ranges and Strzelecki Ranges.
