Victodrobia victoriensis Ponder & Clark, 1993

Diagnostic features

Differs from other members of the genus in shell being larger, subpupiform; male genital system with vas deferens opening from prostate gland anteriorly and not twisted backwards; female genital system with distal coiled oviduct with 1-2 bends (not straight or with slight arch) and capsule gland about equal to albumen gland in length.

Type locality: Headwaters of tributary of Franklin River on Boolarra Foster Road, Victoria (38°03'54"S 146°14'42"E).

Biology and ecology

In small streams and seeps crawling on litter and sediment. Can be locally abundant. Assumed to feed by scraping bacteria and microalgae. Egg capsules unknown.

Distribution

Eastern Victoria – Great Dividing Range, Dandenong Ranges and Strzelecki Ranges.
