Superfamilies Veigaioidea, Rhodacaroidea, Eviphidoidea, Ascoidea, Phytoseioidea, Dermanyssoidea
Diagnostic characters:
Movable digit of chelicera with a spermatotreme.
Genital opening at the base of the tritosternum (tritosternum may be absent).
Similar taxa. Male Dermanyssiae have a spermatodactyl rather than a spermatotreme.
Comments. In general, male mites can only be identified if they can be associated with adult females. However, some of the bingo characters may work on both males and females.
