Thysanoptera Aotearoa
Thrips of New Zealand
This identification system includes 141 species, of which 127 have been taken alive in New Zealand. The additional 14 species are considered potential invaders that are of quarantine interest to this country.
Information on the biology and distribution of each species is provided. However, very little is known about the biology of most of the thrips species that are native to New Zealand, with most of the fungus-feeding species being known from few individuals, and even some flower-living thrips known only from single samples.
