Introduced annual forb to 30cm tall. Stems succulent. Leaves mostly basal, upper leaves stem-clasping, 5-25cm long, 20-60mm wide, flat, hairy to slightly hairy above, hairy below, edges deeply dissected and toothed. Flower heads hemispherical, with 15-20 yellow 'petals' and dark brown to black centres. Flowers solitary at the tops of the stems.
