Introduced perennial forb to 1.5m tall, stems arising annually from the rootstock. 'Leaves' in clusters of 3-7, 1-2.5cm long, 0.5-1mm wide, linear, hairless. Male and female flowers on different plants. Flowers pale green to greenish white, tubular, with 6 lobes, 1-2 in at the bases of the 'leaves'. Berries red.
