Perennial grass to 80cm tall. Leaves with a hairy or hairless sheath at the base. Ligule a membrane with a fringe of hairs. Leaves to 25cm long, 1-2mm wide, rolled or the edges rolled inwards, hairless or hairy. Spikelets 8-14mm long, excluding the awn. Mature seed groups somewhat spreading. Seeds with 1 awn. Rare Vic.
