Annual forb, prostrate, flowering stems to 20cm tall. Succulent leaves, basal and alternating along the stems. Leaves stem clasping, 1-5.5cm long, 2-8mm wide, almost cylindrical, hairless. Flowers pink, white or purple, with 5 petals, borne singly at the tops of the flowering stems and on stalks arising from the flowering stems.
Differs from Calandrinia calyptrata in that the petals are 3-7mm long, 2-4mm wide.
Differs from Calandrinia volubilis in that the flowering stems never twine and the stalks of the fruiting bodies point downwards.
