Shrub or tree to 10m tall, scrambling when young. Leaves especially in juvenile growth with two short spines at the base. Leaves alternating up the branches, 2-6cm long, 10-30mm wide, flat, sparsely hairy above, densely hairy below, sometimes becoming hairless. Flowers white or cream to pale yellow, with 4 petals, solitary or in short racemes of 2-5 flowers at the tops of the stems. Fruit yellowish to brown, edible.
