Woody climber to 3m tall. Leaves opposite each other, composed of 3 or 6-9 leaflets, occasionally single entire leaves, each leaflet sometimes with 1 or 2 basal lobes, 0.6-5cm long, 1-13mm wide, flat, hairless, usually with blunt tips. Male and female flowers usually on separate plants. Flowers creamy white, with 4 'petals', in open panicles at the ends of the stems or on stalks arising from the bases of the leaves. Poorly known Vic, as Clematis sp. (12-15 leaflets).
