Annual or short lived perennial forb to 15cm tall. Leaves at the base of the plant and alternating up the stems, 1-8cm long, 2-12mm wide, flat, sticky hairy, with woolly margins. Flower heads yellow, with 0 petals, globular or slightly flattened, single on the ends of the stems. Protected NSW. Poorly known Vic.

Differs from Pycnosorus chrysanthus in that the leaves have a single prominent longitudinal vein. Differs from Pycnosorus chrysanthus, Pycnosorus pleiocephalus, and Pycnosorus thompsonianus  in that the hairs on the seeds are white.
