Introduced annual or short-lived perennial forb to 90cm tall. Basal leaves flat, 5-25cm long, 10-50mm wide, hairless to hairy, edges toothed to lobed and toothed, with more or less pointed tips. Stem leaves alternating up the stems, with pointed basal lobes, stem-clasping, 1-2cm long, mostly narrow and flat, with entire edges. Flower heads with many yellow 'petals' often with a pink or red stripe on the backs of the 'petals', in open groups at the ends of the stems.
