Introduced annual rush to 8cm tall, curry-scented when dry. Leaves with a sheath at the base, short, flat or the edges rolled inwards, bristly. Spikelets about 3mm long, 1-2mm wide, pale greenish, with 0 petals, arranged at the tops of the flowering stems in 1-3 clusters of 2 to several spikelets, subtended by 2-3 leaf-like bristly bracts.
