Annual grass to 40cm tall or sprawling. Leaves with a hairless sheath at the base. Ligule a membrane with a fringe of hairs. Leaves 4-8cm long, 2-6mm wide, flat, rough or sometimes hairy, with rough hairy edges which are sometimes wavy, with a long point. Spikelets green, 3-5mm long. Seeds with one awn about 0.5-2.5mm long. Mature seed groups oval, digitate. Rare Vic.
