Perennial grass to 70cm tall. Leaves with a sheath at the base. Ligule a fringe of hairs. Leaves 3-8cm long, 1-2mm wide, rolled or edges rolled in, or sometimes flat, hairless, with rough margins. Spikelets 5-12mm long. Seeds with 0 bristles. Mature seed groups cylindrical to spreading. Rare SA.
