Tree to 30m tall, rarely a mallee. Bark rough at the base of the trunk, smooth above. No oil glands in the branchlet pith. Leaves aromatic when crushed, alternating up the branchlets, 5-16cm long, 7-25mm wide, dull and pale to somewhat glaucous, thick, hairless, with pointed tips. Flower bud caps shorter than the base. Flowers white to cream, with 0 petals, in clusters of 4-7 in panicles at the ends of the stems, sometimes a few clusters at the bases of the leaves. Buds and nuts sometimes slightly ribbed longitudinally. Nut valves not very noticeable.
