Annual forb to 50cm tall. Lower leaves alternating up the stems, upper leaves almost opposite each other, to 5cm long, to 5mm wide, linear to flat, hairless, margins toothed. Male and female flowers on the same plant. Flowers with 0 petals, green, with yellow glands, in small heads that look like a single flower, each head composed of several male flowers surrounding 1 female flower, at the bases of the leaves or at the tops of the stems.
