Perennial forb to 1m tall. Leaves alternating up the stems, 0.5-2.5cm long, 1-3mm wide, narrow cylindrical to linear to flat. Often becoming leafless. Flowers yellow, with 2 petals, plus 2 coloured sepals, in clusters of 7-63 flowers at the tops of the stems. Fruiting bodies 2-winged.
