Introduced annual or biennial forb 1-2m tall. Leaves opposite near the base, alternating along the stem higher up, 3-20cm long or more, 10-120mm wide, flat, rough to rough hairy, margins smooth to toothed, with pointed tips. Flower heads yellow, with brown to black centres, and many 'petals', borne singly or in small open groups at the end of the stems or singly at the bases of the upper leaves.
