Annual forb 10-45cm tall. Basal leaves withering early, to 5cm long. Stem leaves alternating up the stems, slightly stem clasping, to 5cm long, to 5mm wide, flat to linear, hairy, edges often wavy. Flowers cream to yellow, with 0 petals. Flower heads urn-shaped to oval, in large tight clusters at the ends of the stems, sometimes also clusters at the bases of the leaves.
