Introduced annual grass to 40cm tall. Leaves with a hairless sheath at the base. Ligule a membrane without a fringe of hairs. Leaves flat, 2.5-20cm long, 2-8mm wide, hairless, tapering to a fine point. Spikelets green to straw-coloured or gold to purplish, 2-5mm long. Mature seed groups oval to cylindrical. Seeds with 1 awn, in groups of 2-5+.
