Introduced annual, biennial, or perennial forb to 70cm tall. Leaves basal and alternating up the stems, to 8cm long, hairless, toothed to entire, edges sparsely hairy, with pointed tips. Basal leaves sometimes dissected. Flowers tiny (less than 3mm across), with 4 white petals, in racemes which elongate as the fruiting bodies mature, at the ends of the stems.
