Introduced shrub to 1m tall. Leaves alternating up the stems, compound, with 7-25 leaflets, each 0.3-1.5cm long, 2-6mm wide, flat, upper surface sparsely hairy to hairless, lower surface hairy, margins hairy, tips blunt or notched. Flowers red, pea-shaped, with 5 petals, 2 almost joined together. Flowers in racemes of 2-8 flowers, the stalks arisng from the bases of the leaves.
